Renting a bass for the convention. Contact these local vendors about renting an instrument for the week (bring your own bow.) Cost will vary depending on the quality of the instrument requested, from $100 to $200. Convention attendees must make their own arrangements and pay the vendor directly. For those traveling with your bass in a trunk, we have found a resource for leaving your bass trunk at the San Francisco Airport (SFO). Once you've claimed your baggage and trunk, go to the International Terminal departure level, near the United Airlines and on the way to the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and look for the Airport Travel Agency office. With an advance registration by calling (650) 877-0422, or by emailing either or , you can store your trunk for $15 per day (without reservation, $20 per day.) The Airport Travel Agency is open 7 AM to 11 PM. Earlier pick up is possible if scheduled in advance for an additional charge. Allow for up to 15 minutes to pick up or drop off your trunk. Payment due by cash or with Visa, MC or AmEx when you drop off your trunk.

For shuttle transportation between the San Francisco Airport and San Francisco State University (the Holloway campus) or any of the hotels in the area, a special one-way rate of $15 per person plus gratuity (traveling without bass) is available with a reservation through Super Shuttle at http://www.supershuttle.com/Sales/ISB2011.html. If you are traveling with your bass, either in a trunk or a bag, you must make an advance reservation by June 1st for a dedicated van by completing the form available at the same web page, and emailing to the dispatcher as instructed. The cost for a dedicated van one-way, which will hold up to 4 passengers and two basses in a trunk, is $100 plus gratuity. Questions? Email .

For shuttle service or taxis, the address for The Towers at Centennial Square is 796 Font Blvd., San Francisco, California 94132. (This address is for location only and not mail services). Ask to be dropped off behind The Towers at Centennial Square, and take the elevator to the main floor of the building where the front desk is. There will be signs to help you locate the building, and if you are staying at Mary Ward Hall, desk personnel will tell you direct you to that hall (a short distance.) You can print out these instructions, including the campus map, for your shuttle or taxi driver.

Whether you're staying in The Towers (Campus Map, F2-3) or Mary Ward Hall (Campus Map, F1-2), all check-ins will take place in The Towers at Centennial Square. The registration desk will be open 24 hours a day. This is where you will pick up your keys.

Check-in begins at 4 PM. If you arrive before 4 PM, the university staff will store your luggage in a secure area until you can check-in. Upon arrival, you will sign a Conference Registration Card, and then a room key, bathroom key (for Mary Ward Hall), and access card will be issued. There is a $50 charge for lost, stolen or damaged access cards.

You must check out by 11 AM. University staff will store your luggage for you, if you'll be attending convention events after 11 AM that day. Keys and access cards must be turned in at the front desk of The Towers, where you checked in, or you will be responsible for paying late fees.

Check in for the ISB Convention is in Room 154 of the SFSU School of Music, located in the Creative Arts Building (Campus Map H4-5), from 7:30 to 6 PM daily beginning Monday morning June 6th through Saturday, June 11th.

On-campus dining. You will also receive a badge to use in the City Eats Dining Center (Campus Map F2). Breakfast is included with your on-campus lodging. If you purchased the meal plan for lunches and dinners, your meal badge will admit you to lunch and dinner beginning Monday evening, June 6th and ending Saturday evening, June 11th. Meal hours are:

Breakfast – 7 to 9 AM
Lunch – 11 AM to 1:30 PM (must be seated by 1:30)
Dinner – 5 to 7:30 PM (must be seated by 7:30)

You may also purchase individual meals as you go, CASH ONLY, no credit or debit cards. The City Eats Dining Center features an all-you-can-eat variety of well balanced and creative menus, always with vegetarian options. There are other eateries on campus near the residence halls and in the Student Center that may also be open.

There are ATM machines on campus: Patelco at the Village at Centennial Square and Wells Fargo, Chase, and Bank of America in the Student Center.

On-campus parking. Self-parking is available in the Parking Garage (Campus Map E3-4) for $5 a day. For brief loading and unloading, you may park for up to 20 minutes in the parking area on the south side of State Drive.

Internet access on campus. There are wireless hotspots outdoors on the main Quad (large grassy outdoor area between the Student Center and the Business building), the outdoor area between the new Humanities building and the Student Center and the grassy area between Burk Hall and the Fine Arts building have campus wireless access. There are hotspots in the Student Union Building (1st floor, upper and lower terraces and mezzanine), and in the Creative Arts Building (School of Music) by Rooms 3, 40, 116 and 119, and in the Fine Arts Building by Rooms 140A and 160. Wireless internet access is not available in either of the on-campus housing buildings. Your laptop computer must be Ethernet-ready, and you should bring a cable to connect to the internet in your on-campus sleeping room.
