The Bass Line

Professional violist and painter Laura Menegozzo was born
in Naples, Italy, and earned her degree in viola performance at the
Conservatory G.B. Martini of Bologna in 1995. While at the conservatory she first realized her passion for painting and began to develop her technique in oils. For Laura, visual art has always had an important link with music and the color inspired by different sounds. Her goal is to capture the many special expressions of life's emotions, "the poetry of an infinite moment."

Laura has created all the pictures of the multi-media fantasy tale "The Kingdom of Ibbi Obbi" for double bass, piano and narrator that includes a story book illustrated by her original oil paintings and Stefano Sciascia's performances of music by Rachmaninov, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Scriabin, Saint Saens and Popper (read the review on page XX). The portrait of the Ibbi Obbi character "Blackthorne" with double bass on the cover was created for this issue of Bass World.
