Ed Mingo has been working in the music wholesale industry since 1993 and over the years has become known as an orchestral string specialist. Ed started his career with a small music accessory wholesaler named Tone King Corporation. After taking a position with Nordenholz, Ed discovered he had a special interest in orchestral strings and their construction. Using this extensive knowledge of strings and his strong relationships with violin makers, Ed worked as a product specialist, purchasing agent, marketing assistant, and sales manager at companies such as Connolly, Metropolitan Music, and most recently Ed has taken a position as the Marketing Manager USA for Pirastro.
As a part time working musician, Ed is excellent at using his passion for music to communicate with players and makers. In 2009 as a representative of Metropolitan Music he began giving annual string lectures at the North Bennett Street School, Chicago School of Violin Making, and the Red Wing Technical School’s violin repair program. Most recently as representative of Pirastro strings, Ed has started giving his string talks to students at the Manhattan School of Music and the Julliard School of Music in New York City.
