Bio:

Dr. Jack Unzicker is an award-winning performer, educator, and scholar. He is an Associate Professor of Double Bass at The University of Texas at Arlington and has extensive and varied experience in all performance areas, from early music to contemporary, solo, chamber, and orchestral, jazz, and electric bass.

 

Dr. Unzicker recently released a recording of five commissioned works for double bass and violin, The Diaries of Adam and Eve, on Albany Records. Recently, Unzicker performed concertos by Bottesini, Rota, and Hindemith with the Dallas Chamber Symphony, Holland Symphony Orchestra, and the Midland-Odessa Symphony. He performs frequently with the Dallas Chamber Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, American Baroque Opera, and Santa Fe Pro Musica. He has worked with conductors Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Jaap Van Zweden, Fabio Luisi, Robert Spano, Gunther Schuller, Emmanuel Villaume, Marin Alsop, Kevin John Edusei, James Conlon, and many more.

 

Dr. Unzicker’s students have been accepted to the Colburn School, Juilliard School, Rice University, New England Conservatory, University of Southern California, Boston University, University of North Texas, Indiana University, New World Symphony, Aspen Music Festival and School, Domaine Forget, Curtis Institute of Music Summerfest, National Orchestral Institute, and National Repertory Orchestra.
