Bio: | Gabe Condon is an internationally acclaimed researcher, educator, jazz guitarist, and composer. In July, 2024 he began his appointment as Assistant Professor of Music at Hamilton College, where he also serves as the Director of the Hamilton College Jazz Ensemble. In 2022, he travelled to Berlin, Germany to conduct research on Sinti jazz pedagogy. He presented the research at the College Music Society National Conference, the Jazz Education Network Conference, and the National Association for Music Educators Eastern Division Conference. In addition to his work as a researcher, Gabe is a passionate jazz educator. Prior to his appointment at Hamilton, he taught at the Washington State University School of Music and the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Gabe’s accolades include three Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards and first place in the 2014 Wilson Center International Guitar Competition, Jazz Division. In 2017 and 2018, he accompanied the U.S. Presidential Scholars for performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Gabe earned his D.M.A. in Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation from the University of Michigan, and his M.M. and B.M. in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music. |
