Bio: | Bass Players for Black Composers (abbreviated as BPBC) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to commission and publish new works for solo bass by Black composers. In doing so, BPBC encourages the expansion of solo repertoire for bass and the diversification of the canon. Since their founding in June 2020, BPBC has established a catalog of ten works and worked with composers and performers such as Darian Donovan Thomas, Kebra-Seyoun Charles, Nick Dunston, and Mason Bynes. Beginning as an online project, BPBC has blossomed into an ever-growing digital database of not only works for double bass, but educational workshops featuring interviews with performers and composers for any bassist to access. |
