Bio:

Caitlyn Kamminga is an Associate Professor of Double Bass at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, the Academy for the Performing Arts.  She holds a BM and MM from the University of Southern California.  Kamminga has worked and toured worldwide with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, and the London Mozart Players and recorded the symphonic repertoire extensively with many leading symphony orchestras.  She has been the recipient of major grants from the United States Embassy to Trinidad and Tobago and the Vincent Wilkinson Foundation for the creation of new works, including Jab Molassie and River of Freedom, which received an American premiere in 2018 at the Chautauqua Institution in New York.  In March 2019, River of Freedom was performed to high acclaim at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.  Basses Are Loaded, Kamminga’s first play, was staged in November 2019 at the Zeider’s American Dream Theatre in Norfolk, VA.
