|Bio:||Jacob Warren is a multi-style bassist whose background and interests lie in a wide ranging variety of acoustic styles, including, but not limited to classical, jazz, bluegrass, Swedish fiddle, and many others. As a Chamber musician Jacob performs with his quartet Westbound Situation, his duo Warren & Flick and Jeremy Kittel. As a solo artist he loves to adapt new techniques and styles of music for the double bass, and to share these passions through his teaching.
Jacob began double bass studies at the age of 10 under the tutelage of Robert Rohwer, Adjunct Assistant Professor BGSU. He obtained his bachelor's degree in music performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 2017 with the school's Earl V. Moore Award in Music. During his undergrad he studied with Professor Diana Gannett. He also holds both a Master of Music in Improvisation and a Master of Music in Chamber Music from the University of Michigan. Jacob has been awarded third prize in the International Society of Bassist Soloist Competition in both 2019 and 2021.
