Bio:

Founded in 2018, the Taco Belles started as an “experiment” between University of Illinois jazz performance student, Crystal Rebone, and her colleagues Emma Taylor and Melinda Rodriguez. She was inspired by her drive to promote women in jazz and the very first jazz album she had ever listened to titled Super Bass. This album features a trio of bassist, Ray Brown, Christian McBride, and John Clayton. Rebone, along with Taylor and Rodriguez, took the spirit of that album while adding vocals over the low ends of the two basses. Since its founding, the group has had many different combinations of players. Most recently, the group consists of bassist Crystal Rebone, Emma Taylor, and Andrew Binder. All three contribute to the collection of songs and arrangements performed by the trio to give everyone a chance to showcase their own musical voice.
