George A. Fahlund Bassist, Educator, native Texan. Mr. Fahlund, born and raised in Austin, Texas. He started playing double bass in 1982 at the age of seven as a student in the UT String Project. Mr. Fahlund relocated to San Antonio after marrying his amazing wife in 2020. Mr. Fahlund regularly performs with The San Antonio Philharmonic, SA Harmone, The Austin Symphony, and Mid-Texas Symphony. He can also be found playing both string bass and electric bass in the pit orchestras of Zachary Scott Theatre, and other promenent theatre companies in central and south Texas. A proud alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, he was studied Lower Strings with both Dr. David Neubert and Mrs. Phyllis Young. In his thirty plus years as a professional musician, he has had the pleasure of performing with such artists as Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Hilary Hahn, Andrea Bocelli, The Celtic Women, Diana Krall, Lyle Lovett, and Willie Nelson. In the fall of 2022 Mr. Fahlund was named professor of double bass at the University of Incarnate Word, in San Antonio Texas. He has been a featured lecturer at the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association.
