First Brazilian to earn a Doctorate on Double Bass, Fausto Borém is the leader, composer and arranger of "Musa Brasilis Ensemble". He teaches Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate bass students in Brazil at UFMG (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais). He has won several awards in both double bass performance and scholarly writing, including the restoration and edition of the 1838 manuscript by Afro-Brazilian Lino José Nunes (2nd method written by a bassist in the world, songs and operatic lessons for the double bass), the 1898 manuscript by Leopoldo Miguez (Impromptu for bass and piano). He has being presenting his original and transcribed compositions at ISB Conventions since 1993.
