Bassist and composer Susan Cahill is a Chicago native and a graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where she studied with Bruce Bransby and Lawrence Hurst.
Since 1997 Susan has been a member of the Colorado Symphony. She performs regularily with the The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Utah Symphony, and the Grand Tetons Music Festival.
Her passion for chamber music has led her to work with with many of the outstanding musicians of our time and her compositions have been featured at several US festivals.
Susan has had many acclaimed solo appearances including with the Colorado Symphony, and she has taught and performed at Festicámara, a festival promoting arts education for youth in Medellín, Colombia. As a member of the widely acclaimed Argentinian tango ensemble Extasis she has performed in the US, Europe and South America. Her new project, Grande Orquesta Navarre has received attention for their innovative blend of old world sound combined cutting edge new music. Susan is co-artistic directors of Denver Eclectic Concerts, a monthly chamber music series in Denver.
Susan currently teaches double bass and chamber music at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and is on the faculty of the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.
