Bio: | Rob Nairn is on faculty at the Elder Conservatorium. Previously Head of the Early Music Department, Melbourne University and prior to returning to Australia taught on the faculty of the Juilliard School and Penn State University for 18 years where he was a Distinguished Professor. Performance credits: London and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestras; the Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestras; the English, Scottish and Australian Chamber Orchestras, the Bavarian Radio Symphony, the Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, West Australian and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, the London Sinfonietta, the Halle Orchestra, London Mozart Players, the Australia Ensemble, The Australian World Orchestra, Australian String Quartet. A specialist in historical performance, principal bass with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, previosly principal bass with the Handel and Haydn Society since 2003, BEMF, Juilliard Baroque, OAE, ORR, English Baroque Soloists, Smithsonian Chamber Players, Concerto Caledonia, Ironwood, Washington Bach Consort, Rebel, Florilegium, ARCO and Adelaide Baroque. Commissioned and premiered many works including concerti by Barry Conyngham, Doug Balliett and Elena Kats-Chernin, can be heard on over 60 commercial CDs. Past President of the ISB, received a Recognition Award for Historical Performance, 2009, Howard Foundation Fellowship from Brown University and DAAD German Government Scholarship. Recitals and masterclasses in Europe, Scandinavia, China, the U.S. and Australia. |
