Dan Styffe is a Swedish bassist working as Professor of Double Bass at The Norwegian Academy of Music and at Barratt Due´s Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway.
He also plays as Co-Principal bass in Oslo Philharmonic
Styffe also has an international career as soloist and chamber musician. He performs regularly on Conventions and Festivals around the world. He has recorded 7 solo-CDs on labels like SIMAX Classics, Fabra and Prima Facie.
He has commisioned many works for bass - solopieces, chamber music and concertos for bass and orchestra by f.ex Högberg, Martinsson and Lindberg. At the moment composers writing for him include Asbjørn Schaathun ,Marcus Paus and Laurence Crane.
Styffe plays a bass made by Gasparo da Saló from approx. 1680 owned by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB / Dextra Musica.
