George A. Fahlund

Bassist, Educator, native Texan. Mr. Fahlund, was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He started playing double bass at the age of seven as a student in the University of Texas String Project. Mr. Fahlund is a alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin where he studied Lower Strings with both Dr. David Neubert and Mrs. Phyllis Young. Mr. Fahlund currently lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and is the professor of double bass at the University of the Incarnate Word and is the Director of the Texas Hill Country Bass Collective.  Professionally Mr. Fahlund has performed with: San Antonio Philharmonic Orchestra, SA Harmonie, The Dallas Opera, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Mid-Texas Symphony Orchestra, Central Texas Philharmonic, Zachary Scott Theatre, Austin Playhouse, Zilker Theatre Productions. As a music educator, Mr. Fahlund’s students consistently receive top chairs and honors at both TMEA and UIL events. He has been a featured lecturer at the TMEA and TODA and is a proud member of the following organizations: International Society of Bassists, American String Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association and the American Federation of Musicians, Local 23.
