BIO-Paul Robinson, 2023 ISB Convention

Paul Robinson

Paul Robinson is professor emeritus of double bass at The Ohio State University. He was a member of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra for 30 years and is a former member of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. Dr. Robinson has also performed with the Colorado Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony, the Houston Symphony and the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. A student of Philip Albright, Oscar Zimmerman, and Homer Mensch, he has performed under such conductors as Zubin Mehta, Pablo Casals, and Leonard Bernstein. He is a founding member of the Contemporary Music Forum in Washington, D.C. and has performed in venues such as The White House and Carnegie Hall. Before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University, Robinson served concurrently on the faculties of Howard University, Montgomery College, Prince Georges College, and the Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music.  He served as editor for the double bass book in the Hal Leonard comprehensive string method series, Essential Elements for Strings. He has performed and conducted a variety of workshops in Canada, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Brazil and throughout the United States.
