Danny Ziemann is a bassist and educator living in Rochester, NY. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Danny has been freelancing regularly since the age of 16. He has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia with bandleader Gordon Webster. Danny was the bassist in the first Focusyear Artist Diploma band, in Basel, Switzerland, where he spent one year studying and playing with luminaries including Larry Grenadier, Dave Holland, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jorge Rossy, and others. In both 2015 and 2017, he placed 2nd in the International Society of Bassists jazz bass competition.
In addition to a full performing schedule, Danny is a dedicated educator. His two jazz bass method books, The Low Down Vol. 1 & 2, have received continuous acclaim in the bass community. Danny is an active clinician, working with students at universities and high schools and presenting at various conferences held both in the US and abroad. He also produced two courses on jazz bass performance as a tutor for the website Discover Double Bass. Danny currently teaches at The Eastman Community Music School, SUNY Oswego, and is a visiting professor of jazz bass at the Eastman School of Music.
