Codi Takács (he/him, she/her, they/them) is an American double bassist, vocalist, improviser, self-critic, and composer. As an ensemble musician, he has performed with Asko|Schönberg, Klangforum Wien, Het Metropole Orkest, New European Ensemble, and Doelen Ensemble as well as productions of ≪HEROÏCA≫ (Dan Tanson, director) and Once Around the World (Mike Svoboda, musical director) with the Lucerne Festival Academy Alumni. As a vocalist, she is active in both voice acting and song-writing, and in 2020, Codi released Music In Progress, her first solo album of pseudo-absurd self-composed songs. With a persistent passion for pairing the human voice and double bass in theatric performance, they debuted with the Dutch National Opera as a solo double bassist and vocalist for the premeire production of I Have Missed You Forever, have commissioned several works for solo double bassist/vocalist, and authored The Double Bass-Voice: A How-To Guide. Off-stage, Codi enjoys designing T-shirts, long existential walks in the woods, and being blue.
