Bio: | Steeped in the groove stomping tradition of her mentor Ray Brown, bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb brings that joyful drive and passion into everything she does. Whether accompanying her singing or arranging gems curated from The Great American Songbook or pop culture, audiences can count on uplifting vibes and sounds that make feet tap. London Jazz News rightfully notes that “she has a way of taking anything and making it sound cool.” Kristin’s first ISB experience was playing a recital for the Iowa City convention in 1999. She was immediately blown away by all the bass love. Over the years, Korb has served as a member of the ISB Board, directed the Young Bassists program (2011), was Artistic Director for ISB 2013 (Eastman School of Music), and served as ISB President (2013-2015). Love led her to Denmark, where she now resides with her Danish husband, continuing to inspire budding musicians through her concerts and and educational outreach programs across Europe and the US. |
